ABOUT THE SURVEY

From urban centers to rolling farm country, there are a lot of creative and impactful local food initiatives happening across Northeast Ohio. How can we better connect efforts between communities, whether it be for sharing innovative practices, creating new business transactions, or synchronizing policies?

This survey will provide an opportunity for you to share your perspectives on regional food work and help shape some pathways for better connecting initiatives in Northeast Ohio.

We are utilizing a unique survey process developed by June Holley in Athens, Ohio that includes traditional survey questions and a network mapping process. In the survey, you will be asked to select individuals with whom you are connected or would like to be connected. This network mapping process provides us with a visualization of how we connect (or do not connect) as a region. Your network connections are only used for visualization purposes and will not be shared publicly.

Diverse and inter-connected networks help to speed the growth of local food systems, improving opportunities to collaborate in areas of mutual interest, whether it involves developing food hubs, techniques for sequestering carbon in soils, or addressing policies that impact local food operations.

FOLLOW-UP

The results of the survey and network mapping process will be presented at a community forum, scheduled for 9-Noon on Wednesday August 19th (location TBA). The forum will provide an opportunity to learn from this process and help to shape next steps for supporting growth of the regional food economy. The forum will help to bring clarity to next steps: do we want to form a regional food council? A learning network? What new partnerships can help to grow the local food system?
